The beloved Pitch Perfect franchise may soon return with a fourth instalment, according to actress Rebel Wilson. Fans of the Barden Bellas will be thrilled to hear that a new chapter could be on the horizon, more than six years after the release of Pitch Perfect 3.

During a recent interview with BBC Radio 2, Rebel Wilson, who portrayed the iconic character Patricia “Fat Amy” Hobart in all three previous films, shared some exciting news. “Hopefully there’s a fourth one in the works,” said the 44-year-old actress. “There is one being developed. I know we’re older now, so I don’t know exactly what the storyline’s going to be.”

Wilson also acknowledged that the production team is still working on perfecting the script, noting, “I guess they’ve got to get the script right first, which is the age-old dilemma.” While no plot details have been confirmed, the prospect of a continuation has fans buzzing with anticipation.

Reflecting on her experience making the Pitch Perfect films, Wilson expressed nothing but love for the musical comedy series. “I absolutely loved making those movies,” she said, reminiscing fondly about the bond she shared with her co-stars, including Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, and Anna Camp. “We’re all still friends, all of us girls. They’re just so joyful.”

Wilson went on to describe how much fun it was to work on set, particularly given her passion for singing and dancing. “I think what people see on the screen is just us having a laugh. It wasn’t really acting, because I love singing and dancing, and I just loved hanging out with that cast so, so, so much. It was really fun.”

Although a fourth film has not been officially confirmed by Universal Pictures, Rebel’s comments suggest that fans may not have seen the last of the Barden Bellas. The previous three films were major successes, blending catchy a cappella performances with humorous and heartwarming moments, and the possibility of a sequel has been a hot topic for years.

In a playful nod to the franchise, Wilson recently reunited with Anna Camp, who played Aubrey Posen in the Pitch Perfect series. The two are currently working together on a new action-comedy project, Bride Hard. In a video posted to Instagram Stories last month, Wilson joked about their reunion, quipping, “A Pitch Perfect reunion. Filming Pitch Perfect 4 today.” She added, “Yeah, it’s gonna be aca-awesome!”

While it’s still unclear when or if Pitch Perfect 4 will officially go into production, Wilson’s update offers hope to fans who have been eager for another round of a cappella showdowns. With the original cast still enthusiastic about the series and their friendships stronger than ever, the next chapter could bring the same blend of music, humour, and heart that made the first three films such a hit
